Charlevoix Montessori Academy for the Arts has the following positions open for the 2017-2018 School Year:
K-12 Special Education Teacher
Qualified applicants must have a valid Michigan teaching certificate with a Special Education endorsement.
Position Details:
• Develop an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student who is eligible for Special Education.
• Assess students’ skills to determine annual goals and objectives in IEPs.
• Plan and implement specialized instruction, one to one or in small groups, in the general education setting and/or resource room.
• Monitor and discuss student progress with parents, teachers, and administrator.
• Assist students in transitions from grade to grade and with post secondary goals.

• Proficient in classroom and student management techniques.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment with parents and professionals.
• Proven ability to implement innovative methods of teaching using offline and online resources.
7-12 Science Teacher
Qualified applicants must have a valid Michigan teaching certificate with a DI or DX endorsement for grades 7-12.
Position Details:
• Proficient in the use of technology to access electronic databases, grade books, and email.
• Proficient in classroom and student management techniques.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment with parents and professionals.
• Proven ability to implement innovative methods of teaching using offline and online resources.
Elementary Teacher
Qualified applicants must have a valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate and demonstrate compliance with State and Federal “highly qualified teacher” status as defined by the Michigan Department of Education.
Prefer some Montessori background, experience or knowledge but willing to provide training to the right individual.
